RSK Infrastructure Framework
What is RSK Infrastructure Framework?
The RSK Infrastructure Framework, also known as RIF, is a decentralized protocol that enables faster and more efficient distribution of decentralized applications (DApps) within a unified environment. The framework includes its own operating system, known as the RIF OS, which supports users by providing a comprehensive and user-friendly framework for blockchain services and infrastructure. This allows developers and organizations to access various services across multiple crypto-economies, promoting interoperability and speeding up time-to-deployment.
One of the key features of RIF is the RIF OS Protocols, which aim to bridge the gap between blockchain technology and mass-market adoption by creating an “Internet of Value”. In addition to the RIF OS, the framework has developed a variety of other products such as RNS, RIF Lumino Network, and the RSK Smart Contract Network.
The RNS is a decentralized service that allows users to create readable domains and aliases, which can be used to identify personal resources, payment and communication addresses. The RIF Lumino Network adds a third layer to the Bitcoin blockchain, enabling state channels for each token built on RSK, increasing transaction speeds and lowering costs.
To support this operational model, the RSK Infrastructure Framework has introduced its own cryptocurrency, the RIF token. The RIF token is based on the ERC-677 protocol and is the native token of the RIF ecosystem. With the RIF token, holders can consume services that are compatible with RIF’s architecture and can also be used across the RIF marketplace.
The RIF Marketplace offers a simplified interface and user experience for various decentralized services. Decentralized applications can seamlessly connect to the outside world using tools and technologies developed by RIF Gateways. The marketplace is the main component that links all other RIF services with their customers and users, ultimately enabling the fast and efficient creation of decentralized sharing economies (DSEs) on top of RSK and RIF. Offerings such as storage, payments, communications, and data services can be listed by providers and made available to users.
RIF has a rich history that started in December 2016 when RSK Labs announced the launch of the RSK side-chain protocol, a secure smart contract platform powered by Bitcoin. In May 2017, the Test-net version was released to the public, and in January 2018, the Beta Main-net version was released. The RSK Infrastructure Framework (RIF) protocol has a total supply of 1,000,000,000 RIF tokens.
