What is RMRK?

RMRK, pronounced "remark," is a new way to experience non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Kusama blockchain, one of Polkadot's canary networks. This protocol offers a unique set of five NFTs that can interact and function together without the need for parachains or smart contracts.

What sets RMRK apart is its ability to offer NFTs that can automatically upgrade themselves for future versions. In RMRK 2.0 and above, the NFTs can even own multiple NFTs, changing the output media and creating nested NFTs. For example, in a game, a character (NFT) can hold a skateboard (another NFT), helmet (another NFT), and bag (one more NFT), with the bag potentially containing food (NFT) and health potions (NFT). Additionally, the NFTs in RMRK also feature on-chain emotes, allowing users to express emotions through an emoji keyboard.

Another advantage of RMRK is its support for multi-resource NFTs that have different outputs. For instance, an ebook can be a PDF source, an audio file, and a cover source, all accessible in RMRK 2.0.

The native token of the RMRK protocol is $RMRK. Unlike other tokens that can be obtained through public sales or private sales, $RMRK can only be obtained through over-the-counter trade, though the protocol does not recommend it. The protocol has several utilities in store for the token, including a minting fee to increase its long-term availability and the ability for users to use the tokens on multiple chains to mint, trade, and interact with NFTs. $RMRK can also be used as stablecoin collateral on chains like Karura/Acala and as liquidity providers (LP) in a DEX.

RMRK was created by a team of experienced developers and designers who understand the importance of NFTs and the potential they hold for revolutionizing the way we interact with digital assets. The team is dedicated to providing users with a platform that is easy to use and accessible, while also being secure and scalable.

One of the key features of RMRK is its ability to interact and function with multiple NFTs at once, making it possible for NFT creators to build complex systems with ease. This opens up a world of possibilities for NFT-based games, applications, and other digital assets. Additionally, RMRK's nested NFTs, which allow for NFTs to hold other NFTs, adds another layer of versatility to the platform.

Another important aspect of RMRK is its native token, $RMRK. This token is central to the functioning of the RMRK protocol and is only obtainable through over-the-counter trade. However, the protocol plans to introduce a minting fee to increase the long-term availability of the token, and to allow users to use the token on multiple chains, mint, trade, and interact with NFTs.

Additionally, the RMRK protocol has plans to use the token as stablecoin collateral on chains like Karura/Acala and as liquidity providers in a DEX. This opens up a world of possibilities for users who want to use their NFTs for financial purposes, such as collateral for loans or as a source of liquidity in decentralized exchanges.

In conclusion, RMRK is a forward-thinking and innovative protocol that has the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with NFTs. With its focus on scalability, security, and accessibility, RMRK is poised to become a major player in the NFT space in the coming years
