What is Hathor?

Hathor (HTR) is a decentralized blockchain platform that offers a scalable and user-friendly solution for digital assets. Unlike traditional blockchain networks, Hathor adopts a unique architecture that merges principles from directed acyclic graphs (DAG) and blockchain technology. The aim of the platform is to address the challenges of decentralization and scalability faced by other cryptocurrencies.

Hathor is designed to provide an optimal environment for various use cases that require scalability, efficiency, long-term security, and censorship resistance through network distribution. The network ensures security for small transactions per second, while the DAG takes over when the number of transactions increases, creating a highly scalable ledger that can handle transactions for diverse purposes without any fees.

Hathor token (HTR) is the official currency of the Hathor network and provides access to the platform’s decentralized payments, token issuance, and contracting capabilities. Mining rewards in the form of newly created HTR tokens incentivize the network's decentralization and guarantee 99.99% uptime without the need for central coordination. Additionally, users can earn HTR tokens through community rewards for promoting local events and strategic partnerships through the Bounty Program. The platform even enables users to create custom digital tokens on the Hathor Network with just a single click.

The Hathor team consists of Yan Martins as Co-founder and CEO, Marcelo Salhab Brogliato as Co-founder and CTO, Layla Mendes as Co-founder and CFO, Pedro Ferreira as Co-founder and Senior Engineer, and Jan Segre as Co-founder and Senior Engineer. The first testnet of Hathor was launched in May 2019 and the mainnet went live on January 3rd, 2020.

As a decentralized platform, Hathor offers a range of benefits for users, including financial participation in companies, ownership of digital goods such as website domains, and voting rights, all through the use of HTR tokens. The token operates independently of the price of 1 HTR, allowing users to participate in the platform regardless of market conditions.

In conclusion, Hathor is a unique and innovative blockchain platform that offers scalability, efficiency, and security for digital assets. With its combination of DAG and blockchain technology, Hathor provides a solution for the challenges faced by decentralized cryptocurrencies and sets the stage for a wide range of use cases.
