Boson Protocol is a blockchain-based cryptocurrency that aims to revolutionize commerce and connect smart contracts, metaverse, and crypto loyalty with the real-world. It is a platform created for communities, creators, and merchants to trade goods, services, and experiences seamlessly. The goal of Boson Protocol is to create a decentralized commerce ecosystem and to empower its community to govern it.

The team behind Boson Protocol noticed that intermediaries were disrupting the markets, economies, and governments, by extracting excess value and distorting supply chains. To resolve these issues, Boson Protocol aims to create an open tokenized economy of Things, automating the redemption of digital rights for physical assets using NFTs encoded with game theory. This will disrupt e-commerce platforms by tokenizing things and their data within a liquid digital market built on DeFi.

BOSON is the utility and governance token of the Boson ecosystem. It is an ERC20 token based on the Ethereum blockchain and is used to govern the ecosystem, reward different actors, and share the value created. The revenue generated by the network flows into the dCommerce DAO, which decides whether to reinvest in the ecosystem's growth or use the revenue to burn or repurchase BOSON tokens. Burning BOSON tokens means that a fraction of tokens are sent to a wallet without a private key, effectively losing the tokens forever. This helps reduce the token's availability and increase market value.

The community governs the ecosystem through the dCommerce DAO, deciding which projects to fund and what apps to create. BOSON tokens can be earned by participating in development bounties, joining meetups, engaging in competitions, and being an active part of the community.

The Boson Protocol whitepaper was released in February 2021, and the founding team includes Justin Banon as CEO and co-founder, Dr. Trent McConaghy as founder, and Gregor Borosa as tech co-founder. The team is committed to creating a decentralized commerce ecosystem that will change the future of commerce and empower its community.
